Pre-school class

    We run three pre-school classes for five- and six-year-olds, in a separate part of the building with its own entrance and cloakroom.

    Who it is for

    The pre-school classes, known as “zerówka”, take children aged five and six. Six-year-olds complete their compulsory year of pre-school preparation with us.

    Each class has up to 25 children. They work with a pre-school teacher, supported by a teaching assistant.

    How the work is organised

    The classes occupy a separate part of the ground floor with their own entrance and cloakroom. Children do not pass through the main hall or use the shared corridors during breaks.

    They have three activity rooms, one for each class, a room for movement games, a bathroom suited to children's height and a separate part of the playground.

    They use the canteen and the after-school club together with Grades 1–3. They eat lunch in the first sitting, supervised by their teacher.

    What we do

    We follow the core curriculum for pre-school education. We prepare children for learning to read and write, and provide maths, science, art, music and physical education.

    We also run:

    • English twice a week;
    • rhythmics once a week;
    • speech screening at the start of the year and therapy for children who need it;
    • adaptation activities before first grade: getting to know the building, the rules and the teachers of the younger grades.

    Admissions to the pre-school class

    Admissions take place at the same time as admissions to first grade. The dates for the given year are in the admissions timetable.

    A child who already attends our pre-school class does not take part in admissions again. Parents submit a declaration on continuing pre-school education before admissions begin.

    New children are admitted on the basis of an application, to available places. In the first stage the statutory criteria count, for example a large family or the child's disability. In the second stage the criteria set by the municipal council count.

    Starter kit

    The list is short: indoor shoes, a change of clothes in a named bag, clothes for physical activities and a named water bottle. Five-year-olds also bring a pillow for rest time.

    We provide art materials, paper and teaching aids for the whole group.
