Admission to Year 1

Children from the school's catchment area are admitted on the basis of a registration form, and children from outside the area through the admissions procedure, when places are available.

    Who the admissions apply to

We admit to first grade children who turn 7 in the given calendar year. At the parents' request we also admit a six-year-old child if they attended pre-school education in the previous year or have an opinion on school readiness from the psychological and educational counselling centre.

Parents of a seven-year-old may ask the head teacher to defer compulsory schooling by a year. An opinion from the psychological and educational counselling centre is attached to the application.

Two routes: registration form or application

Your child lives in the school catchment area

We admit them automatically, on the basis of a registration form. There is no admissions procedure and no points, and the place is guaranteed.

The registration form must be submitted during the admissions period. It tells us how many classes to prepare for September. A statement on the child's place of residence is attached to the form.

Your child lives outside the catchment area

The child takes part in the admissions procedure. Candidates from outside the catchment area are admitted to places left after all children from the area have been admitted.

Parents submit an application together with statements confirming that the criteria are met.

Criteria for applicants from outside the catchment area

The criteria and points are set by a resolution of the municipal council. Currently they are as follows:

    CriterionPointsHow to confirm it
The candidate's sibling attends our school10parent's statement
Parent's workplace in the school catchment area8parent's statement
The candidate attended the pre-school class at our school6school details
Relatives who help the parents with childcare live in the school's catchment area4parent's statement
The applicant is in foster care4supporting document

The highest possible score is 32 points. If scores are equal, the order is decided as set out in the municipal council resolution and the enrolment rules.

Statements are made under penalty of criminal liability for false statements. The admissions committee may ask for documents confirming them.

How to register your child step by step

    1. Checking your address in the list of streets

Your address determines whether you submit a registration form or an application. The list of streets in the catchment area is on a separate page, and if in doubt the school office will check your address.

    2. Choosing and filling in the form

The application is for children from the catchment area, the request for candidates from outside it. Forms are available from the school office, and the request can also be downloaded below. You can start enrolment with the online form.

    3. Signatures of both parents

The registration form or application is signed by both parents. The exception is when one parent has sole parental authority.

    4. Submitting the documents at the school office

We accept documents during the admissions period, Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 15:30. The dates for the given year are in the admissions timetable.

    5. Confirming the intention to enrol

After the list of qualified candidates is announced, parents of candidates from outside the catchment area confirm in writing that their child will start school with us.

What happens after you submit the documents

The admissions committee checks applications from candidates outside the catchment area and announces the list of qualified candidates. After parents confirm their intention to enrol, it announces the list of admitted candidates.

Lists are posted by the main entrance. We do not publish them online because they contain children's personal data.

Parents of a candidate who was not admitted may, within 7 days, ask the committee for the reasons for the refusal and then appeal to the head teacher. Details of the appeal procedure are in the admissions timetable.

    After admission

At the end of August, the school office sends parents an email with the class assignment and the form teacher's name. We do not post or publish class lists. Requests to place a child in the same class as a friend are taken into account where organisationally possible.

Sign-up for the school after-school club and lunch declarations are separate from admissions. After-school club sign-up for the next year takes place in June.
