Textbooks

    Students receive textbooks and workbooks free of charge from the school library.

    What the school provides

    Textbooks and workbooks for compulsory subjects are free of charge. The school library hands them out at the start of the year.

    Parents buy school supplies and PE kit. Students may have their own atlases and dictionaries, but they also use the copies in the reading room.

    Textbooks during the year

    1. Textbook list for the next year

      Before the end of classes in June, we publish the list of textbooks for the next school year. The list includes titles, authors and publishers. You do not need to buy the textbooks.

    2. Issue in September

      In the first week of September the library hands out textbooks and workbooks according to a class schedule. Form teachers send the schedule via the e-register.

    3. Learning throughout the year

      The student keeps the textbook until the end of the year. We repair minor damage, such as a torn cover, in the library.

    4. Return in June

      In the second half of June classes return their textbooks according to a schedule. Workbooks stay with the student.

    At least three successive year groups learn from each textbook. That is why we ask for it to be returned in a condition that allows it to be used again.

    How to look after a textbook

    • cover it at the start of the year;
    • make notes and highlights in the exercise book, not in the textbook;
    • carry the textbook in the backpack separately from the water bottle.

    Spilled water is the most common cause of damage.

    Parents' questions

    What should you do if a textbook is lost or damaged?

    The school may ask the parent to cover the cost of the textbook. The teacher librarian agrees the method of settlement with the parent.

    Damage that makes a textbook unusable is treated as a loss.

    When do we settle up for lost textbooks?

    When textbooks are returned in June. Settling up does not affect the certificate – the child receives it on the last day of the school year.

    Do workbooks have to be returned?

    No. Workbooks are single-use – the student writes in them and keeps them at the end of the year.

    What if my child joins us during the year?

    We hand out textbooks on the day the child starts at our school. Please return the textbooks to the previous school – each school settles its own copies.
