Volunteering
In the School Volunteering Club you help others as much as you want and can.
How to join
Come to a club meeting – on Thursdays after lessons, in room 12. You don't need to sign up in advance or commit for the whole year.
You can take part in one campaign and leave it at that. Or you can come regularly. Both are fine.
For campaigns outside school you need written consent from a parent. Consent is signed separately for each such campaign.
Regular campaigns
We run these campaigns every year. We give the exact dates in the news section and on the club noticeboard.
All year round
Reading to pre-schoolers
Once a week, older pupils read to children from the preschool groups during after-school club time. We meet every week, so this activity is for people who can come regularly.
November – December
Collection for the animal shelter
We collect pet food, blankets, towels and leads. The boxes are by the main entrance. A few volunteers take the donations to the shelter.
December
Winter fair
You help at the stalls, with packing and looking after guests. The proceeds from the fair go to the class trip fund.
Spring
School garden
We tidy the grounds, plant and weed. During the summer holidays, volunteering families look after the garden according to a rota.
One-off campaigns
During the year there are also campaigns suggested by students, teachers and institutions in our municipality: collections, helping at events and taking part in nationwide campaigns. We announce them in the news section and on the club noticeboard.
Got an idea for a campaign? Suggest it to the club supervisor or through the Student Council. The best ideas usually come from students.
Certificate and points in admissions
For regular volunteering you can get:
- an entry on your school-leaving certificate – for activity on behalf of others, under the conditions described in the statute;
- 3 points in admissions to secondary school – for exactly that entry on the certificate;
- a volunteering certificate – we issue it at your request.
The club leader records which activities you take part in. If you want a certificate, you can check with the club leader from time to time that all your activities have been recorded.
Every week I read one book to the pre-schoolers. At first I was nervous, and now they're the ones making sure I don't forget to come.
