Competitions

During the year we organise five school competitions and enter interested students in competitions outside the school.

You don't need the best grades in the class. There are no entry heats for school competitions – all you need is to want to try.

    Competitions outside school

We enter interested students in subject competitions run by the regional education authority, in municipal and district competitions and in nationwide events. You will find calls for entries in the news section and on the noticeboard by the gym.

Subject competitions run by the education authority count in admissions to secondary school. The title of laureate or finalist gives extra points.

    How to enter

School competition. You sign up with the teacher running the competition or with the person named in the announcement. You don't need any particular grades.

Competition outside school. The school enters you. Tell your subject teacher that you want to take part – they will pass your entry on to the organiser.

Some competitions require written consent from a parent, especially when you need to travel somewhere or when your work will be published.

    Rules and regulations

Every school competition has rules. They tell you who can take part, what entries we accept, the deadline, who judges and on what basis.

We publish the rules together with the competition, at least three weeks before the entry deadline.

    Prizes and results

Prizes in school competitions are funded by the Parents' Council. They are usually books, art supplies or equipment useful in the given field.

We announce the results in the news section within a week of judging. We give the class, not the name. If you would like a certificate of your result, ask for one at the school office.

Winning entries are displayed in the hall for a month.

    Suggest a competition

Got an idea for a competition? Submit it through the Student Council. Two competitions in our calendar started as students' suggestions.
