World Book Day: book swap and reading aloud

On World Book Day the library turned into a swap point. Students brought books they had read and took others home, while reading aloud went on in the after-school club.

The swap lasted all day, from 8:00 to 15:30. Anyone could bring a book in good condition and choose another from the shelves set up in the reading room.

We swapped over two hundred books. Most were adventure novels and comics, the fewest were how-to guides.

In the after-school club, seventh-grade students read Maria Konopnicka's nature stories to younger children. Books that did not find new owners went to the swap shelf by the library.
