Building evacuation drill: lessons learned

The evacuation drill went smoothly: more than 600 people left the building in under five minutes. Firefighters assessed the drill, and we will discuss the conclusions in form periods.

We sounded the alarm during the third lesson, without warning the pupils in advance. All pupils, teachers and school staff took part in the drill.

The drill was prepared by safety education teacher Zbigniew Lewicki together with the fire brigade. The firefighters checked the evacuation routes and the time needed to leave the building.

We have planned an extra drill for the younger classes so that they know the evacuation route well. In spring we will hold an extra drill for classes I–III and the pre-school groups.
