Cycling licence: exam for fourth-grade students

Published: 28 April 2026 Categories: Safety, Older classes

Fourth-grade students who have turned ten can get a cycling licence. The exam consists of a knowledge test and riding a course on the school sports field.

Students prepare for the exam in technology lessons with Grzegorz Mazurek. They learn the rules of the road, road signs and first aid basics.

The theory part is a test in the classroom, and the practical part is riding a course on the sports field. For the ride, students bring their own roadworthy bike and a helmet.

    Steps to a cycling licence

    1. Parental consent

The parent signs consent for the exam and provides a recent ID photo.

    2. Knowledge test

The student takes a test on the rules of the road in a technology lesson.

    3. Riding the course

On the sports field the student shows starting, braking, avoiding obstacles and signalling a turn.

    4. Issuing the licence

Cycling licences are handed out in June, before the summer holidays.
