Educational and prevention programme
A document describing how the school educates and which problems it aims to prevent.
Who adopts the programme
The programme is adopted by the Parents' Council in agreement with the teaching staff council. Parents therefore have a direct say in what the school focuses on in education and prevention.
We prepare the programme on the basis of an assessment of students' needs. It includes surveys of students, parents and teachers, a review of incidents from the past year and observations by the school's specialists.
How the programme is created and works
Needs assessment in May and June
We collect surveys and observations, and the psychological and educational support team draws conclusions.
Draft programme
A team of teachers chooses the priority areas and plans activities for the new school year.
Resolution in September
The Parents' Council adopts the programme in agreement with the teaching staff council at the start of the school year.
Delivery throughout the year
Activities are run by form teachers, specialists and teachers, in lessons, form periods and projects.
Evaluation in January and June
We check what worked and present the results to the Parents' Council.

Areas we focus on
We choose the priority areas afresh every year, and the current ones are described in the programme to download. The assessment most often points to four areas.
| Area | Example activities |
|---|---|
| Peer relationships and preventing exclusion | Kindness Week, workshops with the school counsellor in every class, peer mediation in Grades 7–8 |
| Online safety and respectful communication online | Safer Internet Day, workshops for Grades 6–8, a meeting for parents |
| Coping with stress and emotions | classes on learning techniques, exam preparation for Grade 8, consultations with the psychologist |
| Healthy lifestyle – exercise, sleep, nutrition | daily time outdoors, Sports Day, corrective exercise, classes on healthy screen habits |
How we check that the programme works
We carry out the evaluation twice a year: a partial one in January and a full one in June. We take into account the number and type of reports to the school counsellor, attendance, survey results and form teachers' observations.
We present the evaluation results to the Parents' Council. The conclusions are the starting point for the next year's programme.
The role of parents
Upbringing happens at home and at school, so we invite parents to work with us:
- parents fill in the needs assessment survey in May;
- the Parents' Council adopts the programme and may propose changes during the year;
- we schedule meetings and workshops for parents in the afternoon;
- we also share workshop materials with those who could not come.
